I'm sorry my comment was so insufficient for how much I thought of what you wrote.

It got me choked up thinking of how much I wished it had been what I experienced and how much better I can do.

What a wonderful post! I recently came out later in life as well (I'm 52). After coming out to my husband, I felt sure that I wanted to also tell our kids. I felt like I wouldn't be able to truly be myself at home if I didn't. Our kids are older though (18 & 20). They both have queer friends and have been very supportive. I know this essay will be a helpful resource--thank you!
