When we first launched Bisexual Killjoy, we weren’t sure what to expect. We knew that the podcast world needed more bi+ voices, especially ones that were interested in discussing plurisexuality from an academic and advocacy lens instead of rehashing the same conversations around bi-erasure (important but not the only thing we’ve got going on as bi+ people). We knew we wanted to challenge stigmas, dismantle myths, and create a space where our community could feel seen and even celebrated. In our hearts, we were hopeful that we’d make a difference; we never anticipated the overwhelming support and conversations the first two seasons of the show would ignite.
Now, we find ourselves reflecting on how far we’ve come and are dreaming big for the future. The journey is just getting started, and 2025 is going to take us to the next level.
Our First Year Together
It’s hard to believe we started the podcast in March, and yet we’ve already found ourselves sorting through thoughtful discussions on representation, the radical act of questioning normative relationships, intimacy, gender, and even joy. And, thanks to all of you, we have been able to have those conversations while staying true to ourselves.
It’s been such a joy to connect with you–our listeners–because you’ve helped us keep going. Your messages, comments, and support have reminded us why this work is important. Every time someone tells us they felt less alone after hearing an episode or learning something new, it fuels our passion for creating more.
And it’s not just the podcast that’s making waves—we’ve also had the privilege of stepping outside the studio (a.k.a. our bedrooms) and into spaces that bring our advocacy to life. This year, we were honored to teach a class on bi+ identities and representation at the University at Albany, where we connected with students about queerness, community, and intersectionality. The experience reminded us of the power of education in creating a more inclusive world. PLUS! We were also invited as speakers at BECAUSE and have already been invited back for next year. Face it, kids: Bisexual Killjoy is making an impact.
But there’s always room to grow, and we want to make Bisexual Killjoy even bigger, bolder, and better in 2025.
What’s Next for 2025
As we look ahead, here’s what we’re excited to bring to life:
Seasons 3 and 4: Spotlighting Bi+ Diversity
Our core mission has always been to highlight the breadth and depth of the bi+ community. For our next two seasons, we’re diving deeper. Expect episodes that amplify voices across races, genders, sexualities, abilities, and life experiences. The bi+ community is incredibly diverse, and we want to reflect that diversity while continuing our commitment to education and advocacy.
We’ll tackle new topics, bring in fresh perspectives, and ensure every listener—whether they’re bi+, an ally, or someone just beginning to explore their identity—can find something that resonates.
Bringing More Diverse Voices to the Mic
Representation matters. It’s not enough for us to talk about diversity—we need to embody it. In 2025, we’re committing to finding and featuring guests who challenge us to think differently and bring underrepresented perspectives to the table.
Whether it’s activists, scholars, creators, or everyday folks with compelling stories, we’re expanding our reach to make Bisexual Killjoy a richer, more inclusive space.
Sustaining the Podcast
Creating this podcast has been a labor of love, but let’s be real—it’s also a labor of time, energy, and resources. That’s why we’re excited to launch a Patreon in 2025. This will allow us to sustain ourselves while continuing to create the content you love.
Through Patreon (or a similar platform), we hope to offer exclusive perks—think behind-the-scenes content, bonus mini episodes where I finally unleash myself on that episode of Sex and the City, and maybe even some live Q&A sessions with us. Most importantly, your support will help us keep Bisexual Killjoy going strong. For our friends who can’t contribute financially, don’t worry! We’ll always have free, quality content for you.
Building a Community with a Discord Server
Podcasts are great for listening, but they can sometimes feel like a one-way conversation. We want to change that. In 2025, we’re launching a Discord server to foster a supportive, interactive community for our listeners.
This will be a space where you can connect with other bi+ folks, share resources, ask questions, and celebrate wins. Whether you’re looking for advice, a place to vent, or just some bi+ memes, our Discord will be the hub for it all.
Winning Podcast Awards
Okay, we’ll admit it: we want some shiny hardware and ribbons. While we don’t create Bisexual Killjoy for the accolades, we believe in the power of recognition to amplify our message. In 2025, we’re throwing our hats in the ring for podcast awards—not just for the bragging rights but to get our work in front of more people who need it.
Guest Appearances on Other Podcasts
Collaboration is key, and we’re looking to make waves beyond our own platform. Whether it’s joining forces with other LGBTQIA+ podcasts or guest-starring on shows that focus on relationships, activism, or storytelling, we want to share the Bisexual Killjoy ethos with new audiences. Recommend us to your favorite podcasts!
Growing Our Team
Right now, it’s just the three of us (thank you to Richie, our faceless but integral engineer), but imagine what we could do with a little help! In 2025, we want to expand our team—bringing on folks who can help with editing, social media, research, and more. By growing our crew, we’ll have more capacity to dream big and execute our ideas.
Continuing to Be Bisexual Killjoys
At the heart of everything we do is our commitment to being unapologetically ourselves. The world tells bi+ people to tone it down, fit in, and not rock the boat—and we’ve never been interested in any of that. We’re here to be loud, proud, and maybe just a little annoying to anyone who thinks bi+ voices should stay quiet.
So, in 2025, we’re doubling down on what makes Bisexual Killjoy special: honest conversations, a refusal to sugarcoat the hard stuff, and a whole lot of love for our community.
How You Can Help
As we gear up for this next chapter, we’d love your support. Here are a few ways you can help us make these dreams a reality:
Spread the Word: Share your favorite episodes with friends, family, or on social media. Every share helps us reach new listeners.
Join Our Patreon (When It Launches): Keep an eye out for updates, and consider supporting us when the time comes.
Get Involved on Discord: Once our server is live, join the conversation and help us build a vibrant community.
Nominate Us for Awards: When awards season rolls around, throw our name into the ring—we’ll be forever grateful.
Thank You for Being Here
As we celebrate two successful seasons, we want to take a moment to thank you. Whether you’ve been with us since day one or just discovered the show, your support means the world to us. Bisexual Killjoy wouldn’t be what it is without our listeners, and we can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish together in 2025.
Here’s to another year of smashing stereotypes, celebrating bi+ joy, and being the Bisexual Killjoys the world so desperately needs. Let’s do this.
Happy New Year!
